Obituary

In Loving Memory of Donald Edward Marrier

Donald Edward Marrier, 81, of Carleton, Michigan left this world peacefully on February 13, 2024. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife, family and friends. Don was born on August 21, 1942 to the late Richard and Helen Marrier.

Don's greatest joy in life was his family especially his only grandson William. He is survived by his beloved wife, Janice (Zoller) Marrier, his son Bruce Marrier, daughter-in-law Julie (Wenzel) Marrier, and grandson William Marrier.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law Robin Wilson, nephew Scott Robinson (Mary Jarvis Robinson), and niece Tammy Robinson-Liss. He was preceeded in death by his parents and sister, Doris Marrier-Robinson-Wilson.

Donald met the love of his life while visiting Hubbard Lake, Michigan when Janice was only 9 years old.  Don and Jan married on September 12, 1969 and spent 54 years together.

Don worked as a Layout Inspector for Ford Motor Company until his retirement after 35 years. After retirement, he was finally able to begin his dream of building a cabin on the Hubbard Lake property.

Don’s lust for building new things and imaging new “projects” kept not only Don busy but Jan too. He always had a new idea or a new way to accomplish something and his mind was always dreaming up new “projects”. Don not only kept busy with his “projects” but he also loved to garden.

When Don was able to get around, he loved to take the family on trips traveling around most of the United States seeing many of the monuments, parks and landmarks. In his younger years, you might even catch a glimpse of Don sailing his sailboat on Hubbard Lake.

His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.

Condolences

  • Jan, Bruce, Julie and William: We are so sorry to read of the passing of Don. Please know that all of you will be remembered in our prayers as you face these days going forward without him. Sincerely, Ralph, Kathy, Shannon and Irish From Hubbard Lake Neighbors
