Obituary

Sandra Jean (Fox) Venier, 76, of Rockwood, died on August 25th at Angela Hospice Home Care in Livonia, Michigan, after a long battle with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. Sandy was born at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Monroe, on June 5, 1947, and was the eldest of six children born to George and Helen Fox. Sandy was a member of the first graduating class from Gibraltar Carlson High School and was a lifelong parishioner at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockwood, where she served on the Saint Vincent De Paul, Beautification, and Funeral Luncheon Committees.

On October 22, 1966, Sandy married David Venier at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rockwood.

During her early years, Sandy worked for the La-Z-Boy Company in Monroe, and as a Teacher’s Aide for the Gibraltar Public Schools. Finally, Sandy was employed in the Civil Division of the 33rd District Court, Woodhaven, and retired as a supervisor after 31 years of service.  In her free time, Sandy enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and living her best life with the tight-knit community on Ludwig Drive.

Sandy is survived by her husband David, daughter Debra (Andrew) LaFleur, grandchildren Claire (Carter) Roush, and Ellen LaFleur, and siblings, Sharon (Earl) Dishaw, Kathy Krajcirovic, George (Mary) Fox Jr., Joseph (Louise) Fox, and Timothy (Leslie) Fox.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and numerous members of the Fox and Venier families.

The family would like to express deep appreciation for the many professionals at the University of Michigan Health System, and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital, Ann Arbor, for years of tireless care for Sandy, and the staff of Angela Hospice for their compassionate care during her final days. In Lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Angela Hospice Home Care Inc., 14100 Newburgh Rd., Livonia, MI, 48154, or Gift of Life Michigan, 3861 Research Park Drive, Ann Arbor, MI, 48108

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 1st, at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, 30895 West Huron River Drive, Flat Rock, from 2:00-8:00 pm, with a rosary at 5:00 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, on Saturday, September 2nd, at St. Mary, Our Lady of the Annunciation, 32477 Church St., Rockwood, with Father Marc Gawronski presiding. Sandy will be laid to rest at the Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery.
