Police: Drunk driver rammed into flagpole at Vermont veterans cemetery
Randolph, VA - Police say a Barre man was drunk when he crashed into a flagpole at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph on Memorial Day.
John Kunkle, 35, of Barre, is scheduled to appear in court in late July on a DUI charge. According to investigators, Kunkle crashed into a flagpole at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery around 7 p.m. Monday.
Police say Kunkle was drunk and was arrested. The flagpole at the entrance to the cemetery was badly damaged and Randolph Center firefighters removed it because it was tilted. Kunkle was taken to Gifford Medical Center and then to Dartmouth-Hitchcock for treatment of his injuries.
