David Sanborn, the jazz-fusion saxophone star, has died at the age of 78
David Sanborn, the musical chameleon whose wailing alto saxophone helped shape the jazz-fusion sound of the 1970s and '80s. He sold millions of albums, adding his touches to the performances of dozens of musical stars - from Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins to the Rolling Stones, David Bowie and Linda Ronstadt - died May 12 at his home in Tarrytown, New York. He was 78 years old.
