Samantha Weinstein, Canadian actress, has died at the age of 42

Canadian singer Melanie Renaud, 42, has passed away after a year-long battle with ovarian cancer. Her team said the singer passed away at La Prairie Palliative Care Center in Quebec City on Tuesday morning.

The Haitian-born artist, who was adopted by Quebec parents when she was eight months old, was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer more than seven years ago. In the summer of 2023, Renaud fell unconscious and was hospitalized for two weeks, after which doctors discovered metastases in her brain.

Late last year, Renaud said she was at peace despite her cancer, and at the time she was in the studio recording songs for a potential album. "Singing is my passion, it's what keeps me alive. I do it because sincerely, soulfully I need to sing", the "J'm'en veux" singer told the publication.

Renaud was diagnosed with terminal cancer at the age of about 35, a rarity in Canada.
