Obituary
Gregg Lee Adkins, born on May 26, 1967, in Trenton, Michigan, passed away peacefully in Bay City, Michigan, on November 15, 2024, at the age of 57.
Gregg was a devoted husband, father, papaw, son, brother, and friend. He met the love of his life, Candace, on an unforgettable blind date, and they cherished 35 wonderful years together. Known for his humor and warmth, he shared countless laughs and tender moments with those he loved.
Gregg had a zest for life and enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, including camping, hunting, fishing, and playing corn hole. A competitive spirit, he took part in local 5K runs and passionately cheered for his favorite team, the Detroit Lions. He found joy in coaching softball and basketball games, inspiring many young athletes with his dedication and enthusiasm.
Gregg's playful nature extended to dressing up in costumes that brought smiles and laughter to family gatherings. Whether appearing as an inflatable T-Rex for Hailey's 16th birthday or embodying characters like the Tooth Fairy and Santa for his grandkids, he delighted in creating magical moments for his loved ones. His storytelling, particularly tales of leprechauns leaving coins and hiding in trees, captured the imagination of both young and old.
Gregg was known for his love of Pepsi and cherished naps, but above all, he treasured his family. He was a caring and sentimental man who always made time to help his mother, Shirley, especially following the loss of his father, Leon Adkins. He adored his grandchildren, Olive, Gregg III, Xavier, and Isaiah, and reveled in the joy they brought to his life.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Candace Adkins; his loving children, Gregg II, Nick, Kayla (Nico), and Kelly; and his dear mother, Shirley Adkins. Gregg also leaves behind his cherished sister, Pam (John) Cook; nieces and nephews, Rick (Nicole), Miranda, Zack, John, and Hailey; and a host of friends who will miss his humor and kindness.
Preceded in death by his father, Leon Adkins, Gregg leaves a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
We suggest raising a glass of Pepsi or a Bud Light in his honor and recounting your favorite leprechaun story. Gregg would have loved that.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the family.
