Richard Joseph Atkinson, Jr., born on September 16, 1943, in Traverse City, Michigan, entered eternal rest on June 19, 2024, in Maple City, Michigan. He was 80 years old.

Richard led a fulfilling life as a dedicated Tool and Die Maker for Ford Motor Company, where his craftsmanship and precision left an indelible mark. Beyond his professional endeavors, Richard found joy in his passion for classic hot rods, especially Mustangs, and was actively involved in various automotive clubs and associations.

A devoted member of the Ford and Mercury Restorers Club, Ford Fire Brigade, and Emergency Response Team, Richard's commitment to community and camaraderie shone brightly throughout his lifetime. His warm spirit and unwavering dedication touched the lives of many.

Richard is preceded in death by his loving parents, Richard and Ruth Atkinson, and his cherished sister, Darlene Gokey. He leaves behind a legacy of love and memories to be treasured by his beloved wife, Dana Atkinson, his children Brian (Kelly) Atkinson, Beth (Dave) Seaman, and Joseph (Beth) Atkinson, his grandchildren Brandon, Alicia, Makenzie, and Ella, and his brother John (Linda) Atkinson.

In the hearts of those who knew him, Richard will forever be remembered for his kindness, passion, and commitment to excellence. May his spirit continue to inspire and guide us all.

  • Romans 8:38-39 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from the the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. You will always be loved, remembered, and in my heart. I love you, Uncle Dick. All my love, Susan Susan Rabas
