Obituary

Eugene Edsel Begeman, SR.

On July 11, 2022, Eugene Edsel Begeman SR. was welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven at the age of 91.

Gene was born on November 12, 1930 in Flat Rock, Michigan to Leona (Steinman) and Louis Begeman and remained a life-long Downriver resident where he raised his family, managed a business, attended church, and touched many lives. He was a humble, loving, and gentle soul with a playful nature and a great sense of humor. He loved his wife, his family, his country, his pets, and all things hockey.

Gene was a Veteran of the Korean War where he served proudly as an ambulance driver for a MASH unit. Once returning from the war, he married his love, Gloria and together they shared 68-years of marriage. Each night, Gene kissed Gloria’s hand after saying grace in thanks for all that they built together following his Salvation through Christ.

Gene is survived by his beloved, Gloria (Sizemore); sons Eugene Jr. (Olivia) and Richard (Kelly) Begeman; grandchildren Eugene III (Monica), Sean (Kate), Brielle, Richelle Begeman and Jamie (Beverly) Short; great grand-children Manny, Liam, Miah, Andreah and Marissa Short; former daughter-in-law Misti and his faithful dog, Cuddles.

The family would like to extend our thanks to the patient and caring nurses of Henry Ford Home Hospice for the support they provided.
