Obituary

We are sad to announce the passing of James (Jim) Lynn Bodary of Clinton Township on 15 June 2023 at the age of 88.  James passed away surrounded by loved ones after a number of serious medical issues.

James was born on 22 May 1935 to Andrew and Ellen Bodary in the family home built by his father, on Walnut Street in Flat Rock, Michigan.

After graduating from Flat Rock High School, Jim became a proud Spartan and went on to earn a Forest Products degree from Michigan State University in 1958.

After graduation he started a career in Construction Management and General Contracting. He worked in commercial construction management throughout Michigan.

In 1956, he married Ethel Yielding and went on to have 4 daughters and one precious son who predeceased him.  He was also blessed with 6 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  Jim was a proud brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend.

James was happiest spending time bowling, watching any Detroit Tigers or Michigan State game, discussing his treasured Corvettes or his exotic pet cockatoos, cockatiels, and eclectus parrots.

James was also predeceased by Andrew and Ellen Bodary (parents), Charles Bodary (brother), Ann Bodary (sister-in-law), Dan Bodary (brother), and a precious son.  He is survived by former wife Ethel Bodary, sister Mary Ellen Bodary, brothers Alden Bodary, Alan Bodary, sisters-in-laws MaryAnn Bodary, Beverly Bodary, Kathy Bodary, daughters Karen (George) Hellmer, Kim (John) DiCaro, Krista Bodary, Karri (Mike) Somers, grandchildren George (Kelly), Lindsey (Robert), Matthew, Daniel, Wyatt, Brynn, great-grandchildren Landon and Lucas as well as many dear cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in New Boston, Michigan on 19 June 2023 at 10 AM (visitation), 11 AM mass, interment at Michigan Memorial Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at Salute Events, 26123 Huron River Drive, Flat Rock.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Kidney Foundation.

Condolences
