Lennis (Lenny) Goodreau Byers, 86 years old, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Lenny was born in Hancock, Michigan. He attended Michigan Technological University, graduated from Michigan State University, and then began a career with the Michigan Liquor Control Commission. Lenny was an avid fan of sports and horse racing and loved to play pinochle. His hearty laugh could be heard before you ever saw him. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Leona (Mountjoy); daughters Sheri Barnes (Dave) and Dawn Sneckenberg (Tom); son Shane Byers (Chrystella); grandchildren Shannon Arsenault (Derrick), Danny Barnes (Elizabeth), Cortney Landrum (Steve), and Chase Byers; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lorlee Byers; his sister, Kay Louise White; and his great-granddaughter, Chloe Mae Arsenault.
