Obituary

Mary, daughter of Stephen & Anna Walpatich, passed away at the age of 86. She was born in South Rockwood, and grew up helping with her family farm & boat livery. She graduated from Airport High School and then the Elkhart University of Medical & Dental Technique, in Elkhart, Indiana. In Elkhart, she met her future husband, Bill Belinky. They were married at St. Charles Catholic Church in Newport and lived happily together for 65 years. Mary had 4 children, Suzanne, Jacob, James & Beth. She was a wonderful mother who taught her children the value of education and always being resourceful to achieve their goals.

Mary loved making things, and could do anything from sewing clothes to upholstering furniture and caning chair seats. She made beautiful hand stitched quilts. She enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets, always looking for a hidden treasure, and often finding one! She was very interested in Native American art, jewelry and culture, and particularly enjoyed visiting the Heard Museum of Native American Arts, in Phoenix, Arizona where she went many times. She was active with the Rockwood Historical Society, where she socialized with her friends.

She was a lifelong member of St. Charles, Newport. Mary worked as a Dental Hygienist before she had her children and again when her children were grown. She even cleaned her children's teeth when they went to the dentist.

Mary is survived by her husband Bill, her children Suzanne, Jacob (Michele), James (Lisanne) and Beth, She has 4 grandchildren Alex, Kate, Liz and Joe. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. The family will remember Mary privately. There will be no public services.
