Obituary

Phillip Eugene Byers, fondly known as Phil to his family and friends, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, in Dearborn, Michigan, at the age of 82. Born on October 2, 1942, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Phil was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather whose warmth and laughter touched the lives of many.

Phil's life was filled with cherished passions and pursuits. He had an enduring love for card games and was particularly fond of poker, often traveling to Las Vegas to indulge in his favorite pastime. A keen gambler, he enjoyed the thrill of the casino and was known for his skillful play, counting cards and being a thorn in the side to the casinos.  Beyond the gaming tables, Phil found joy in golfing, dabbling in the stock market, and immersing himself in a good book. He and his wife delighted in attending shows, golfing and traveling together, creating countless memories over the years.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents, William "Foster" and Ella Mae Byers, as well as his son, Jeff Byers. He leaves behind a loving family who will forever treasure his memory. Phil is survived by his devoted spouse of 27 years, Sherry Byers. He was a proud father to Robin Foster, Kelly Atkins, Steve Byers, Scott (Kelly) Slovinac, and Beth Slovinac. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Nick, Ellie, Zoe, Alex, Bre'Ana, Emme'Lie, Mark, and Audrey, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

Phil's kind spirit and zest for life will be missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Condolences
