Obituary

William C. Boelter, age 81, of Grosse Ile, died unexpectedly at his home on the late morning of December 25, 2017. William, or Bill as he was known, was born on August 30th, 1936 to Norman and Edna (Unger) Boelter in Dearborn. Bill, like other Boelters before him, grew up in Allen Park. Bill spent his life living “downriver” - loving every minute of it. An avid golfer, Bill was a member of Monroe Country Golf and Country Club for many years and a recent member of the Grosse Ile Golf and Country Club. There was never a day where Bill was not active, whether it be going to the movies, biking, or cutting the grass - he was always on the move. Bill is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Sandy; his sons, Kevin, Chris (Lori), Dennis, and Tim; his grandchildren, David, Erica (Albin), Kira (Jimmy), Kaitlyn, and Matthew; and his great-grandson, Gabriel. Bill is further survived by his brother, Lee (Diane); nephew, John; and niece, Leslie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Norman and Edna.

Condolences

  • Bill, your love for family, golf and M&M's was second to none, but the thing I admired most about you was how much your adored Sandy, we should all be so fortunate to experience that kind of love in our lifetime. You will be greatly missed by many...Diane Diane
  • Dad,we have come so far in this journey in life as the many lessons you taught us boys good or bad became instilled with us all. As you went on to the next journey you left us shaken and full of sorrow but I know where your at now. Your teeing off probably right now. That is O.K. your going to need all the practice until when I get to play another round with you. This isn't a forever farewell but a short lived one as we will all see you again one day. Love your son Kevin Kevin
  • My movie-going, m&m loving, golfing grandpa... We all miss you so much. I truly loved going to the movies with you and grandma every chance I got. You will never be forgotten <3 Kait
  • Gramps, We all miss you terribly. Not a day will go by that we won't miss you and forever wish we got more time with you. You are the kindest, hardworking, dedicated, and most loving gramps. Thank you for all that you have done for your family and Grams, and all the important lessons in life you have taught us all, and how we all should live our life. I hope to make you proud, but I am more proud to call you my gramps. I love you forever, and can't wait until we meet again <3 Kira
  • Grandpa, you will be dearly missed. Your legacy will not be that of only an avid movie watcher and golf lover, but a family man with a generous and warm soul. You were one of a kind and will always remain in my heart and thoughts. You have taught me the importance of humbly taking care of our family and loving unconditional. Love you and will continue to make you proud, Geizer. Erica
  • Grandpa Bill was an enigma to many, but honestly he was the easiest man to understand - respect, responsibility, and dedication - were values he held dear and are the values he imparted on us all. His wit and wisdom will be missed. He loved his family and friends without question and more importantly, he passed away proud of his family and with the knowledge that he has had a significant impact on the people we are today - even though he would never admit it. Life won’t be the same without Gramps, but it gives me comfort that he lives on through is all! David
