Obituary

Alice Mae Carter, born on February 1, 1936, in Lincoln Park, passed away on September 26, 2024, in Southgate at the age of 88. Alice was a treasured mother who deeply loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and always extended her warmth to everyone she met, never knowing a stranger and embodying the essence of a mother to all.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carl Eugene Carter. Alice's legacy lives on through her children: Deborah Jean Carter, Patricia Mae (Darrell) Futo, Sheri Lynn (Charles) Seitz, Tammy Carlene Beri, and Karen Annette (Patrick) Watters. Her memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren: Amber, Jamie (Chris), Hilary, Christopher (Laura), Phillip, Christopher, Allison, Natalie (Levi), Karley, and Trevor, as well as her great-grandchildren: Molly, Drew, Trey, and Lily. She is also survived by her sister Betty Jo Horan, many loving nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog Bailey.

Alice found joy in life's simple pleasures, such as helping friends and family, crocheting beautiful pieces for her loved ones and visiting casinos. Her gentle spirit and loving nature touched the lives of many, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Donations may be made to The Care Team Home Health and Hospice. Alice Mae Carter's memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

  • Karen, Patrick, Karley and Trevor, I am so very sorry for the loss of your mother and sweet and well loved grandmother! I know how much you all loved her and it was evident through your posts online, especially Trevor! She will be sorely missed! I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers! Catherine Doyle
  • Alice Mae, what a woman. So many great memories growing up around her. Time spent at the OP and the Carter house was always memorable. I always could make her laugh at the stupid, silly stuff I was always pulling. Prayers for comfort and peace in the coming days to all of you. Annette M Prevaux
  • Sending lots of love and condolences to the family during this hard time. I didn’t get to aunt Alice on a personal level when I moved to Michigan but I did hear about her often from my father, John Sliz. I was lucky enough to get to know her sister, who I refer to as Aunt Jody and for that I’m thankful. I can only imagine how kind of a women Alice must have been. Autumn Sliz
