Obituary

Henry  J. Cousineau, known to many as "Doc" or "Hank," passed away   on August 17, 2022, at the age of 75 in Riverview, Michigan. Henry is survived by his loving wife, Cynthia, and daughters: Dr. Nicole, (Dr. Rick Stanley), Dr. Kristin, and Courtney Cousineau. He was adored by his four grandchildren, Jackson, Bryson, Colton, and Brooks,  and his siblings, Carol Bajon, and Dr. Donald Cousineau (Marlene). Doc served his country as a Marine for six years before graduating from Logan College of Chiropractic in 1975. He founded "Cousineau Chiropractic Life Center" in Riverview, where  he practiced for four decades. Dr. Cousineau's daughters, Dr. Nicole (1999) and Dr. Kristen (2005) followed in his footsteps at Life University and continue to carry on his legacy by running the thriving practice that Dr. Cousineau started. He served on the Board of Trustees from December   2011  to July 2017 at Life University and was a Board Member at the Chiropractic Federal Credit Union and a Board Member of Michigan Association of Chiropractors (MAC). Dr. Cousineau  supported  and mentored countless future chiropractors. His influence can be seen throughout the country, particularly in the Downriver community. Dr. Cousineau had a passion for life and a bigger-than-life personality. He was truly a great man, and we will miss him dearly. His lifelong vocation as a healer and promoter of a healthy lifestyle never wavered, nor did his love for his family and friends.

Condolences

  • My heart breaks for the Cousineau family at the loss of their patriarch, father, role model and mentor. I learned many things as a client of Cousineau Chiropractic, many were health and life lessons. I'm thinking of Nicole, Rick, and Kristin my former chiropractors in this loss, as well as Courtney, my former student. I mourn with his nephew Shane, as he is my current chiropractor in Northern Michigan. It's hard to wrap my head around the magnitude of this loss, but I will remember "Doc" as intelligent, funny, professional wnd wise. I know the family's pain, and hope you dwell in the knowledge of his life well-lived and the impacts he made. God bless you! Lisa LaLande

  • So sad to hear of Dr. Cousineau's passing. I grew up as a patient of Dr. C with my family. Then I worked for his practice as a "Note Taker" in high school, following Dr. C to each patient's room taking notes on their progress. He also inspired me to go to Chiropractic school in Georgia. Ultimately, my career/life took a different direction and I am forever thankful you for the direction, laughs and advice Dr. C gave me growing up. He would light up a room, with his Hawaiian shirts and silly jokes. Such a personable and funny person. He truly cared about his patients and was so proud of his family as well. I remember when he first became a grandfather and how excited he was. Also, how he loved having Courtney and Kristin follow in his steps. Such a loss not only to all who knew, but also the community. He will be greatly missed. Kelly Calhoun Daley
