Obituary

Annie Chinchak, a beloved member of the Wyandotte and Southgate communities, passed away on January 30, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 22, 1936, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Annie lived a life full of love, kindness, and adventure.

Annie dedicated many years of her life to serving as a school secretary at St. Patrick's in Wyandotte, where she was cherished by students and staff alike for her warm smile and caring nature. Her genuine and selfless spirit touched everyone she met, making her one of the sweetest people you could ever encounter.

Annie had a passion for quilting, creating beautiful pieces that reflected her artistic talent and attention to detail. She also had a deep love for flowers and animals, finding joy in the simple beauty of nature. Her adventurous spirit led her to travel extensively, with a particular fondness for Caribbean cruises. She also explored the breathtaking landscapes of Alaska and Hawaii.

Annie was an active member of the Southgate Seniors, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to the community with her generous heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Sadie Chinchak; her brothers, George and Frank; step-sister Ethel (Stanley) Banas, and her beloved friend, Bob Esper. Annie leaves behind a loving family: her nephews Tom (Wendy) Chinchak and Chuck (Sue) Chinchak; great-nieces Kayla (Joe) Lewis, Laura (Isaiah) Nino, Haley (Ed) LaPlaunt, and Gracie Chinchak; great-great-nieces Finnley and Isley; and her sister Mary Lou (James) Pond;

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during visitation at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service to celebrate Annie's life will be held on Friday, February 6, 2026, at 10:00 AM, followed by interment at Michigan Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Annie's name can be made to the Detroit Dog Rescue, honoring her love for animals and her compassionate spirit. Annie will be dearly missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
