Obituary

Jean Carolyn Chambers, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2025, in Detroit, Michigan, at the age of 80. Born on June 29, 1945, in Highland Park, Michigan, Jean lived a life full of love, adventure, and devotion to her family.

She found joy in the simple pleasures of walking and hiking, exploring the beauty of nature with every step. A talented cook, she delighted in preparing meals that brought her family together around the dinner table. Her adventurous spirit also led her to biking. Jean cherished her trips to Florida, where she could unwind and create lasting memories with her loved ones.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dan Chambers.  She leaves behind her two sons, Scott Wiedyke and Shane (Amy) Wiedyke. Jean's memory will also be cherished by her grandchildren, Zachary (Jordyn), Nicholas, Rachel, and Nathan, as well as her great-grandchildren, Charlie and Gracie, who brought her immense joy.

Jean was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Dick, whom she held dear in her heart throughout her life. Jean's spirit lives on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Her cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.

  • So sorry for your loss. Jean was a friend to many of his here on Grosse Ile. She was 13 years older than me and I still can't believe how young she looked and acted. So high spirited she was and I inspired to be like her. You all are so fortunate to have such fond memories of Jean. Renee Levko
