Obituary

CARR. Joseph A., age 62, of Carleton, January 04, 2022. Beloved husband of Jessie Simmons Carr. Loving father of Joanna (John) Miller, Nathan Johnson, and Brooklyn Johnson, and Lexi, his furbaby. He is also survived by his siblings Michael Carr, Theresa (Ben) Abalos, Jim Mackey, Timothy (Diane) Carr, DeeDee (Troy) Trent, Kellie (Tim) Begley, Kassie (Rick) Nipper and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine (Brooks) Carr, and Lee “Curley” Stahl and his sister, Debbie Mackey, . His visitation is Saturday, January 15, 2022, 2:00 till 8:00 PM; and a service will be held at 5:00. His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. Joe was a car restoration guru, he always loved classic cars and using his perfectionist hands to create such beautifully restored classics, including his vibrant red 68’ Plymouth Barracuda, and a 73’ Chevy Nova. “It’s a “roof” job but somebodies gotta do it.” - A pun/joke from Joe, said while working on restoring the Nova's roof.He loved all kinds of music, and was always blasting loud jams in the garage or at parties. One of the best dancers around, the life of the party, always cracking jokes and making everyone around him laugh and feel loved.Joe worked hard for his family, friends, and co-workers and his passions in life. If something wasn’t perfect or done right he would make sure it was! He was employed at Ford Motor Company most of his career and worked as an assembler most recently at the Michigan Assembly Plant.Words cannot express how much of a character Joe was, teaching others all he knew, playing pranks on his siblings and friends, jamming to music every morning to start his day off on the right foot. He knew it was all about the little things in life. From a beautiful marriage with Lorinda Jane Carr, Joe had his first daughter in 87', Joanna Carr Miller, who became his heart and soul. He did everything to give her an amazing life growing up, created so many amazing memories, and gave her so much of his love and light. She continues to spread his light and love and has paid forward all his jokes and puns naturally to her friends and family which keeps all the laughs and love going for years and years. Joanna is his "mini-me." Later in life, Joe married a wonderful woman, Jessie Simmons Carr, who became his best friend and love of his life. He gained two amazing children, Nathan & Brooklyn who looked to him as their own father. He shared so much with over the years with his family such as going to the Renaissance Festival together, enjoying the outdoors, four wheeling, going fishing, and remodeling their home together. He touched all our lives in so many ways. And just as Joe would leave a note for his sister Kellie to "Wake me up before you Joe Joe"... We will all be sure to say our goodbyes to him before we all go go.His ashes will be spread on a final four wheeler ride in the Spring/Summer time by Joanna, to remember how he spread so much adventure and fun to everyone he touched. She will also plant a tree for him so that all can recognize his connection to his beliefs and Native American heritage. Beyond these symbolic moments, Joe will be forever missed and never forgotten as we plan to celebrate his life now and forever.

  • Dear Joe, Its still so hard to believe your gone. You were my sister's greatest love, an amazing father to her children, one kick ass brother in law and a fantastic addition to our family. It puts my mind at ease that you had my sister caring for you so well doing the last year of your life, as I know you would have been there for her. You will definitely live on in our hearts forever. To Joe: give em' hell up in heaven! Love Always, Joyce And Eric Joyce R Osborne
