Cathey, Larry M., age 34, of Grants Pass, Oregon, October 19, 2013. Beloved husband of Linsay. Loving father of Samantha Rose. Dearest son of Larry and Amy Cathey. Dear grandson of Jean Cathey, brother of Alan Cathey and brother-in-law of Rodney Olesak. He was born Aug. 28, 1979, in Trenton and raised in Huron Township. In 1997, he graduated from Huron High School, where he lettered in golf, basketball, baseball and football. In 2006, he earned his journalism degree from Eastern Michigan University, where he was sports editor for the Eastern Echo school newspaper. He also worked for the Detroit News and covered the NBA finals in 2004. He continued his career in Hugo, OK, and Paris, TX, before moving to Grants Pass in 2008. He then worked for the Grants Pass Daily Courier as a sports reporter and was promoted to sports editor in February 2012. On May 12, 2011, in Nassau, Bahamas, he married Linsay Olesak. He enjoyed reading, writing, hiking, camping, softball, basketball and rafting.
