Obituary
Mary Christene Chopson, affectionately known as Chris, passed away with her daughters by her side on July 6, 2025, at the age of 96. Chris was the beloved daughter of William and Randa Mason, born on October 9, 1928, in Quebec, Tennessee.
Chris was a dedicated homemaker who devoted her life to her family. Her nurturing spirit, quiet strength, and unwavering love were the foundation of her home and a source of comfort to all who knew her. She shared a lifetime of memories with her family and friends. Chris’s warmth, kindness, and enduring love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Marshall, as well as her parents (William and Randa Mason), her siblings (Austin, Virginia, Reba, William T. “Tommy”, and Myrtle “Penny”), and grandsons (Theodore “Teddy” Kovoch and Shaun Chopson).
Chris leaves behind a legacy of love and warmheartedness for her children: Patricia (Theodore) Kovoch, Mary Christine (Arthur) Hansen, and Kevin (Susan) Chopson. She was a proud grandmother to Daniel (Paula), Elise (Darrel), Courtney (David), Miriah (Jeff), Noah, and Alexandra; a cherished great-grandmother to Corey (Rachel), Daniel, Connor, Cody (Paige), Jadyn, Abigail Christine, John Patrick “Jack”, and Kora; and a treasured great-great-grandmother to Theodore “Theo”, Evelyn “Evie”, Thalia Christine, and Hudson.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Both services will take place at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home, with inurnment to follow at Michigan Memorial Park, where her life will be honored and remembered by all who loved her.
