Obituary

Mary Czaplicki, born on October 16, 1931, in Inkster, Michigan, passed away on August 10, 2026, in Imlay City, Michigan, at the age of 94.

Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Venceslaus Czaplicki; her parents, Eugene and Rose Anna Hebert; her daughter, Carol; her nine siblings; and her cherished grandchildren, Andrew and Daniel.

She leaves behind a loving family to cherish her memory: her children, Elizabeth Czaplicki, Wesley (Julianne) Czaplicki, Donald (Betty) Czaplicki, Terry (Barbara) Czaplicki, Larry Czaplicki, Valinda Savage, and Michael Czaplicki. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Eric, Claire, Emma, Hope, Diana, Jacob, Jennifer, Jessica, Matthew, and Tomy; seventeen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family was the most important part of Mary’s life. She was a sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother to many. She was well liked by a wide range of people who were drawn to her kind and gentle disposition. Mary loved children, especially babies. As a child, Mary had the wish to have many children. She had the good fortune of that wish coming true. She was the mother of 7 children. She was proud of them. She loved them unconditionally. That unconditional love translated into strong devotion from her children. She had the pleasure of having many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and eventually, great-great grandchildren as well. She liked to crochet. She used that ability to make presents for those she loved, especially for babies. She babysat many children. She formed strong attachments with them too as they responded to her steady, kind, and caring interaction. As a housekeeper, people were drawn to her as much for the company that she gave as for the cleaning service that she provided. 

Mary had a long life. As often happens in such cases, she was the last of her generation. She had many brothers and sisters, as well as brothers and sisters-in-law who preceded her in death. As such, she was the final aunt to many. She represented a link to the past for nieces and nephews. This adds to the sense of loss that is felt with her death.

Mary liked movies and television shows from her youth. She watched just about everything and recognized actors and actresses immediately. She loved tea and sweets, with white chocolate being a particular favorite. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and people close to her. Mary asked to die at home in Imlay City. That wish was fulfilled with assistance from her children, especially her two daughters, Valinda and Elizabeth, who provided substantial care for her near the end of her life. 

Mary's life will be celebrated with a visitation on Sunday, August 16, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.

Her family and friends will forever hold the memory of her in their hearts. May she rest in peace.
