Obituary

CANEJO, Mary E., age 69, of New Boston, October 23, 2022. Born February 24, 1953 in Jellico Tennessee. Beloved wife of the late Gervazio Canejo.  Loving mother of Darren Canejo and Tara (Joey) Mendrysa. Dearest grandmother of Joseph Gervazio Mendrysa and Eva Jean Mendrysa. Caring stepmother to Terry Canejo, Jean Bliss, Cindy Canejo, Jeff Canejo, Bruce Canejo and the late Chris Canejo. She is also survived by her sister Lois (Gary) Adkins and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents John and Margie Lowe, her sister Willidean Daniels and her brother James Lowe.

Mary enjoyed long conversations with her family and friends, listening to Cher and the Judds, watching General Hospital and HSN, and especially going shopping. She couldn’t pass up a garage sale if she drove by one. She had endless clothes, purses, shoes and face creams she enjoyed.

Most importantly, she loved to laugh and make others laugh too. She was a great storyteller- not one detail was left out. It brought her great joy to pull a prank on someone. There are many comical memories to share. Not only was she a prankster but she was also a giver. She wouldn’t hesitate to help her family and friends during times of need.

After her husband passed in 1995, she raised her children on her own and was proud of the lives they built and the good people they are today. Mary loved being a grandmother and enjoyed reading books to her grandchildren. She enjoyed playing Go Fish with her grandson and styling her granddaughter's hair like her own. Mary will be deeply missed by all who knew her. May she rest in peace and her memory live on forever.

Condolences

  • My condolences. This makes me reflect on how I don’t nearly care enough for my mom as I should. I wish you and your family much love. Joe Joseph Lee
  • Love and prayers for the family . Mary was my 1st cousin - my Mom and Aunt Margie were sisters. We didn’t see each other often but I have fond memories of Mary Eva . I always thought she was so pretty and I loved her Michigan accent . 💐🙏🏻❤️ To her family
  • The Lau Family sends our condolences and love. We’re glad to have been able to meet and spend time together when Mary visited California for Christmas. I still regret taking her to that horrible burger joint down the street as her first introduction to SoCal, but I hope the dinner where our two families came together made up for it! And we had some memorable times on our cruise together also! Grateful for that time together. Mary, you will be missed. Doug Lau
  • Sending deepest condolences and all our love from Texas. Timmy & AJ
  • Our deepest condolences to your family! Sending you big hugs and love ❤️ Canh & Kian
  • To my dear friend, I am lost without you. I miss our hour long phone calls every day. (even thou we live next door to each other) when something comes up I think, oh I have to call Mary. But I'm happy that I could be there for Darren and Tara and my friend. I have known you for almost 30 years, you are more like a sister to me than a friend. Don't worry about Chico, he is happy and doing good but I'm sure he misses you. I love you and miss you. Stacie mary canejo
