Obituary

Murphey "Murph" Clem Jr., born on December 18, 1948, in Twila, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on July 13, 2026, in Westland, Michigan, after a brief illness. Murph's journey, marked by laughter, kindness, and an unwavering spirit, left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege to know him.

For three decades, Murph dedicated his professional life to General Motors, where his hard work and loyalty were a testament to his character. Beyond his career, Murph's passions included cheering on his beloved University of Kentucky Wildcats, as well as the Detroit Lions and Tigers. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as walking through Garden City Park, where his ability to connect with others meant he never met a stranger and made many lifelong friends.

Murph was a loving husband to Terri, the center of his world and the one he cherished the most. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, surrounded by family and friends who admired his humor, generosity, and open-hearted nature.

Preceded in death by his parents, Mildred and Murph Clem Sr., and his sister, Ann Joyce Creech, Murph leaves behind a legacy of love in the hearts of his surviving family: his loving and devoted wife, Terri; his brother, Darrell Clem (Marcus); his brother and sister -in-laws, Glyn Creech, Robert (Dari) Baker, Larry (Linda) Baker, Greg Baker, Janet Lewis, Mary Baker, and Lisa Baker. His nieces and nephews, Karen (Robbie) Welch, Melanie Connor, Stephen Baker, Jamie Baker, Katie (Nick) Picciuto, and Jake (Emily) Baker, along with his great-nieces Avalon, Madisyn, Mariah, and Olivia, will forever carry his spirit with them.

Visitation will be held at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 2-8 PM. A funeral service to celebrate Murph's life will take place on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 10 AM at the funeral home.

Murph Clem Jr. blessed us all with his warmth and kindness. His memory lives on, reminding us to embrace each day with laughter, love, and generosity, just as he did.
