Obituary

CARTER, Peggy Ann, age 84, passed away peacefully in her home Sunday, March 12, 2023. Peggy was born November 6th, 1938, in her family home in Ecorse, Michigan. Her family then moved not long to a home in Van Buren Twp, where she graduated from Belleville High School in 1956. She married and started her family in 1958. Peggy was a wonderful mother who cared for her children and was always there when they needed her. She has a strong faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was always honest and truthful with her words. She loved working in her yard and being outside. She did a lot of traveling and was an avid rock collector; taking a rock as a souvenir from all the different places she visited. Crocheting was a favorite pastime, as well as sewing, baking, card making, and scrapbooking. Peggy was also a small business owner in the late 80s and into the 90s, making porcelain dolls and accessories. She is survived by her children, Robin Catherine Brock (Robin), Shelby Lynn Baker (Eugene), Gaye Charlotte Oliver (Paul), Peggy Leann Cookson, Frank William Cookson, and Harrison Ann Shirey (Paul), as well as 13 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Peggy is also survived by her sister Nancy Lee Harsh (John), She is preceded in death by a son, Clyde Richard Cookson, her father, James Otto Croy, her mother, Margaret Catherine Hafler, her step-mother Donna Croy, her brothers, James Edward Croy, Charles Peter Croy, Stephen Miles Croy, Michael Zwa Zwa, and her step-sister, Alice Marie McElroy.
