Valerie Rose Claud, born on January 20, 1948, in Newberry, Michigan, passed away at the age of 78 on February 10, 2026, in Flat Rock, Michigan.
Valerie was a devoted and loving individual, cherishing the simple joys of life. She found great pleasure in wordsearches and was a dedicated attendee of Sunday church services, where she found solace and community.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Carter Claud, her parents, Albert and Helen Cowell, and her brothers, Edward, Francis, and Alvin.
Valerie is survived by her children: Gregory LaJoice Jr. (Heather Johnson), Stephanie Fater (Richard), Carter Claud (Heather), and Kay Lamoreaux (Chuck). She was a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Kenny, Amber, Brandon, Austin, Trinity, Samantha, Kennedy, Christopher, and Ashley, and a loving great-grandmother to nine great-grandchildren. Valerie is also survived by her siblings Julia, Cheryl, and Lawrence, who will deeply miss her presence.
Valerie's warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit touched all who knew her. Her memory will be cherished by her family and friends, leaving behind a legacy of love and fond memories.
