Obituary

Ann Marie Dumbuya lost her battle with cancer on 10/06/21 at the age of 39. Ann Marie is survived by Ishmeal Kai Mani (son), Christo Dumbuya (Father), Ishmail Dumbuya (brother), Rose Marie Bintu Dumbuya (sister), Marion Dumbuya (sister). Ann-Marie is preceded in death by Fatmata Dumbuya (mother). Ann Marie was awarded a diversity visa in 2017 which enabled her to move to the United States seeking opportunities for her and her son. Ann marie’s accomplishments were many earning a bachelors degree in Mass Communication (First Class), graduating with honors. She studied at Fourah Bay College University of Sierra Leone. She continued to expand her studies in the United States receiving a certificate of CNA and phlebotomy. She then completed training in the mental health Industry while working with people with developmental disabilities.Ann Marie was humble, hard-working, loyal and kind. Her priorities were always her son and family first. She did whatever it took to make ends meet with the belief her hard work and dedication would be rewarded. She was devoted to people with developmental disabilities and would often say she was so blessed to have found a job she loved, and wanted stay in the field so much she established a nonprofit organization operating in Sierra Leone which provides services for their special needs community. Ann Marie accomplish this while living here in the United States.

  • Life has been so cruel to us right now, first our mother now our only hope is gone. Sometimes I feel like questioning God why only us, but yet again I think! Who are we to question when he already made his decisions. This times has been the toughest period in our lives. Our sweet, loving and caring sister just vanished away from us without saying goodbye. Ann Marie Dumbuya you have left a huge hole in our hearts. I know you are in a better place with Angel's watching over you. You loved your family passionately, you gave everything you can to make sure we are happy. We will cherish you for the rest of our lives and you will never be forgotten as long as we breath on this earth. We love you but God loves you most. You are an inspiration to all of us and I promise we will make you proud wherever you and our mother may be today. It not a goodbye, it a see you later. Our hearts are very heavy.
