It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Clarence Rayburn Dodson Jr., who departed this life on May 9, 2025, at the age of 76. Born in Blount County, Alabama, on February 22, 1949, Clarence spent his formative years surrounded by the picturesque landscapes of his hometown before eventually making Newport, Michigan, his final place of residence.
Clarence was a dedicated Tool and Die Maker for General Motors, where he committed many years of his life to his craft. His meticulous attention to detail and unwavering work ethic were admired by colleagues and supervisors alike.
Away from his professional pursuits, Clarence found joy in simple pleasures and diverse interests. He was a devoted family man who cherished being surrounded by loved ones. Whenever possible, he indulged in watching all kinds of sports, westerns, and movies. His enthusiasm for history drew him to the Renaissance period, while his creative side shone through in crafting, puzzle-solving, making jewelry, and building with Legos. A true collector at heart, Clarence delighted in gathering comics, trading cards, and a colorful array of M&M memorabilia.
Clarence's spiritual journey was supported by his attendance at the Woodhaven Worship Center, where he found fellowship and comfort in his faith.
He now joins in eternal rest his beloved wife of 44 years, Joan Dodson, and his parents, Clarence and Betty Dodson Sr. Clarence leaves behind a loving family, including his children, Staci Dodson (Michael Beurer) and Scott Dodson (Susan); his cherished grandchildren, Victoria, Britney, Jasmine, and Gunner; and his dear friend Sandy.
Clarence's life was a tapestry woven with love, dedication, and a zest for life's varied experiences. He will be dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched.
