Obituary

Donna Masse Dow, 76, went home to Heaven on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, after a short illness in Deerfield Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lee and Charles Masse. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Michael Dow; her son Chris (Danielle) Dow; her daughter Julie (Ben) Lamb; two grandchildren; and many loving cousins.

Donna was born on Aug. 24, 1948, and grew up in Flat Rock, Michigan, where she was a faithful member of Flat Rock Church of Christ.

She attended Flat Rock schools, including Flat Rock High School, where she met and began dating Mike. Donna graduated near the top of her class and attended Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, where she studied Home Economics, with a focus on textiles and fashion merchandising.

Donna and Mike were married Jan. 10, 1970, during a snowstorm. They lived for several years in Flat Rock, where she taught home economics.

Upon her father’s death, Donna and Mike moved to South Florida to be near her mother, and they spent the next 50 years together there, raising both of their children. Donna was a beloved member of West Broward Church of Christ, in Plantation, Florida, having taught Sunday School and helped in the nursery for many years. She loved God and others and spent her lifetime making her faith her own.

Donna loved the cold weather and tomatoes in Michigan, which she enjoyed on the family’s frequent visits to the downriver area.

She enjoyed learning about history, especially of Detroit landmarks she remembered from her childhood. She was an excellent cook and loved sharing meals with her family and others. She had a vast knowledge of movies and trivia and watched Jeopardy nearly every night.

Donna was a natural storyteller with an infectious sense of humor and wit. Her laugh, her kindness and her great faith in God remain blessings to all those around her.
