Obituary

Elizabeth Ann Druyor, born January 12, 1938, in Wyandotte, Michigan, peacefully passed away on October 17, 2025, in Wayne, Michigan, at the age of 87.

Elizabeth was a vibrant spirit whose love for adventure and simple joys transformed the lives of those around her. She delighted in exploring new places and sharing those discoveries with her family, especially her husband Richard and her grandchildren, who relished the mystery trips she and Richard orchestrated with joyous secrecy.

Her creativity and zest for life were beautifully captured in the home movies she created with her late husband Gerald, which turned many ordinary nights into cherished parties. Playing Euchre with Aunt Gwen and Uncle Bill was a favorite pastime, filled with laughter and friendly competition.

A nurturing soul with a green thumb, Elizabeth poured her love into her garden. Initially focused on growing vegetables to can with her children, her passion later blossomed into a spectacular flower garden that became her sanctuary.

Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, influencing her deep involvement with the church's youth group and choir. Elizabeth's compassion was evident to all who knew her, as she selflessly helped those in need and carried a fierce work ethic throughout her life.

The bond she shared with her daughter Deborah was truly special; for over two decades, they were inseparable companions, sharing everything from daily joys to adopting their beloved furbaby, Precious. Elizabeth's love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was boundless, providing them with a warm, supportive presence throughout their lives.

Preceded in death by her husbands Gerald R. Druyor and Richard Kowalski, brothers John New and Danny New, and parents John and Velma New, Elizabeth's legacy of love and kindness lives on through her surviving family: children Deborah Druyor, Terry (John) Elswick, and Kimberly (Michael) Kelly; grandchildren Tony (Bridgette), Michael Jr., Racheal, and J.R. (Haley); and great-grandchildren Anasthasia (Haidyn), Tarek, Aminah, Maya, Madison, Emersyn, and Renley. Her sister, Janet New-Papp, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends, will continue to hold her memory close.

Elizabeth leaves behind a community touched by her grace, unwavering faith, and dedication to family—a Christian household led by her loving example. Her impact resonates deeply with a host of church family, neighbors, and friends who were fortunate to experience the warmth of her generous heart.
