Obituary

George Edward Devore, III, a cherished husband, father, and friend, passed away on January 11, 2025, in Belleville, Michigan, at the age of 58. Born on September 25, 1966, in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, George lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.

George devoted much of his time to coaching cross country, swimming, and track, where he inspired many young athletes with his passion and encouragement. An avid card player and golf enthusiast, George treasured the time spent with friends over a good game or a round on the course. His love for travel was evident in the numerous cruises he enjoyed with his beloved wife, Jennifer, with Aruba holding a special place in his heart.

A true Pittsburgh Steelers fan, George's spirit and humor were infectious. He took great delight in making fun of his dear wife, Jennifer, always thinking himself a comedian. Despite this playful banter, there was never any doubt about the depth of his love for her, which spanned 15 wonderful years together.

George was well-respected in his community, not only as a dedicated geometry teacher but also as a man who led his family through holiday prayers with warmth and sincerity. While his opinions were strong—particularly his disdain for Donald Trump—his love for his family was stronger still.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Devore; his children, Jared Churchill, Trinity Devore, and Alexis Devore; and his cherished pets, Chloe, River, and Zoe. George also leaves behind his parents, George Devore Jr. and Marion Groves; siblings Sharon (and her husband Richard) Lednak, Geffrey (and his wife Rachel) Devore; brother-in-law Jeffrey Mulder; and mother-in-law Karen Stewart.

George will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, leaving behind a legacy of humor, love, and unwavering commitment to those he held dear. His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
