DVONCH, Geraldine, age 87, of Monroe, June 7, 2015. Beloved wife of the late Frederick Dvonch. Loving mother of John (Kathie) Dvonch. Dear grandmother of Shawn (Holly), Lance (Stacie) Dvonch, step-grandmother of Paul, Bryon (Antoniette) and Eric Strong and great-grandmother of 5. She is also survived by her sisters Genevieve Wilson, Marjorie Zarrella of N. Carolina, her brother Richard Korte, and many nieces and nephews. Geraldine was born and raised on the family farm in Carleton the oldest of five children. She attended St. Charles School and Monroe High School. After graduation she studied nursing in Baltimore MD and became a registered nurse. She moved back to Carleton and got married and gave birth to her only child John. She began working at the Flat Rock Medical Center and then went onto nursing at Seaway Hospital in the emergency room, operating room and filled in as inhouse supervisor when needed. While working she also went to the University of Detroit and received her BSN degree. She was a dedicated nurse for 40 plus years working with several doctors and health care providers. Gerri enjoyed reading, crocheting and solving crossword puzzles. She was a talented knitter and made a lot of afghans and sweaters for others. She was a wonderful older sister and helped her siblings often. After retirement she volunteered many hours of work for the Monroe County Museum and Monroe County Court House. She also loved tutoring in the HOST program at the Custer School.
