Obituary

John Harvey Dostert, of Flat Rock, Michigan, passed away on July 19, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on April 19, 1959, in Detroit, Michigan, John lived a life filled with devotion to his family, work, and passions.

John dedicated many years of service as a Maintenance and Painter for Corewell Health Trenton Hospital. His commitment to his work was matched only by his love for the arts. A talented painter and artist, John found joy in expressing himself through creativity. His passion for music, especially as a drummer, brought rhythm and harmony to his life and those around him.

He is lovingly remembered by his spouse of 47 years, Christina Dostert, who stood by his side throughout their enduring marriage. He leaves behind his cherished children, Lauren (Shawn) Lezotte, Jordan (Kristina) Dostert, and Caitlin Dostert, who carry forward his legacy of love and dedication. John was a proud grandfather to Erin Dostert, Liam Dostert, Sophia Coleman, and Millie Dostert, all of whom were a constant source of joy and pride for him.

John is also survived by his sister, Gloria Ellis. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, John and Alice Dostert, and his sister, Sherry Dostert.

Family and friends are invited to honor John's memory at a service to be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Michigan Memorial Park. Attendees are requested to gather at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home by 12:30 PM to process over together.

John Harvey Dostert will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and love for his family and the arts. His spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.

  • We spoke often passing through the halls and parking lot. I will never forget him and his band mates at the then Seaway Hospital Talent show. It was loud and awesome in that cafeteria. There was a suggestion to tone it down, if memory serves, we ignored it !! ROCK ON BUDDY !! Todd Johnson
