Obituary
Melvin Carl Dodes passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on February 1, 2026, in Dearborn Heights, Michigan. He was born and raised in Concord, Michigan, a place that always remained close to his heart.
Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, a commitment that shaped his character and remained a source of pride throughout his life. Following his military service, he became a dedicated member of the United Auto Workers and worked at Ford Motor Company’s Michigan Truck Plant until his retirement.
He had a lifelong passion for model trains, spending countless hours designing and building intricate train systems in his basement and enjoying train simulations on his computer. Over the years, Melvin also found joy in hunting, camping, traveling, taking walks, spending time with family and friends, and savoring a good cigar.
Melvin is survived by his beloved wife, Carol; his children, Mark (Sandy) Dodes, Marty (Sandy) Dodes, Maureen (Craig) Isenegger, Monica (Melvin Powell) Dodes, Mitchell (Tracy) Dodes, Laura Nation, Monica (Michael) McDonnell, and Corey Nation; his grandchildren, Mary, Sam, Alicia, Patricia, Kathleen, Laura, Josh, Griffin, Macy, Abdal, Sara, Jessica, Erin, Madison, and Dusten; his 20 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Linda Hawkins.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, William and Florence Dodes, his sister Maxine, and his brothers Beryl, Merle, and Larry.
