After a prolonged battle with cancer, Michael D’Anna, age 63, passed away at 12:52 a.m. July 31 at Belle Fountain Nursing and Rehab Center in Riverview. Michael is survived by his two daughters Shannon D’Anna and Amy Brubaker. Michael grew up in the Detroit area in Southgate, the only son of Nicholas and the late Leahbelle (Fradette) D’Anna. During his honorable service, he earned several recognitions to include the National Defense Service Medal, the Expert Marksmanship Badge, and the Parachutist Badge. He had over a hundred jumps from aircraft and was a true, blue patriot. Michael carried his discipline and loyalty over to a second career with Ford Motor Company, where he eventually retired from, and remained in the Detroit area for the rest of his life. He will be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister Charis Ann D’Anna. His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
