Obituary

Duff, Opal A., age 93, of Southgate. Opal was born February 6, 1918, was an inspiration and solid foundation to her family and those who called her friend. She was a woman of character, love and forgiveness; all of which she credited to her personal relationship with Jesus. Opal’s strength carried her through many challenges. She was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky living her childhood on the farm. Raised by her parents, Thomas and Nancy McCleese. Carrying on her family’s tradition, Opal instilled in her children the importance of a strong work ethic and love of family. Her children are Juanita (Larry) Sirls, Bob (Dixie) Duff, Irma (Jacque) Eitz, Michael Duff and Linda Bonello. She has 10 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is also survived by siblings, Avery (Charlotte) McCleese, Eleanor Lawrence, Junior McCleese, Irene Richey, Clinton (JoAnn) McCleese and many nieces and nephews. Opal was preceded in death by her former husband Sam, her parents and siblings, Elmer, Jess, Glen, Violet Dahlmer, Imogene French and Dorothy Lang. Opal’s presence as the matriarch of the family will be sorely missed. Her undying light will forever burn in the hearts of her family and friends. Proverbs 31:28a “Her children rise up and call her blessed…”. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Judes or the American Heart Association. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
