Obituary

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Richard Etienne Dmytrusz, affectionately known as Rick or Ricky, who departed this life on May 4, 2026, at the age of 58 in Lincoln Park, Michigan.

Born on January 2, 1968, Ricky was a cherished son, brother, uncle, godfather, pappy, and friend. He dedicated 28 years of his professional life to the IT team at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, where his expertise, kindness, and unwavering friendship left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

A huge fan of cinema, Ricky loved nothing more than seeing movies on the big screen. He also enjoyed reading and spending quality time with friends and family, who were the cornerstone of his life. Ricky’s greatest achievements were indeed the relationships he built with those he loved.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, William and Helen Dmytrusz, and his nephews, Eric Dmytrusz and Jim Dmytrusz.

Ricky leaves behind a family who will forever hold him in their hearts and love him dearly. Surviving family members include his brothers, John (Rebecca) Dmytrusz, William (Debra) Dmytrusz, James Dmytrusz, and Jason Dmytrusz; his sister, Denise (Chris) Truant; and dear nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, all of whom held a very special place in his heart. His life was also blessed by his lifelong friend Timi Bryan; his godchildren Cody (Logan) Cremeans and Shelby (Karver) Woods; and his treasured grandchildren Finley, Nolan, Oliver, Laramie, and Callum.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the American Heart Association Heart Walk with Henry Ford Wyandotte Health. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated and may be directed to https://www2.heart.org/site/TR/HeartWalk/MWA-MidWestAffiliate?pg=personal&px=1197176&fr_id=12619 .

Ricky will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity, and the warmth he brought into every room. He touched countless lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Condolences

  • I always enjoyed running into Rick while I worked at Henry Ford Wyandotte. Rick’s catalogue of movie knowledge was way beyond what I knew. Just a warehouse of information and opinions about film. More importantly though is when in my mind I recall our conversations I will remember that Rick was smiling. Keith
