Obituary

Virginia Marie Dayton, affectionately known as Ginny, Grammie, Bana, and GiGi, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025, in Southgate, Michigan. Born on June 28, 1925, in Detroit, Michigan, she was 99 years old. However, in her charming way, Ginny celebrated her birthday twice each year, as she was actually born on June 27, 1925, but the birth wasn't officially acknowledged until the following day.

As a devoted homemaker, Ginny's life revolved around her family and their happiness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Raymond Dayton, her son Cary Dayton, and her three brothers and sister.

Ginny's life was rich with simple pleasures. She found joy in bowling, golfing, shopping, and reading. Her love for the color purple was well-known, and she could often be found enjoying music and dancing. Ginny cherished her time with her family, savoring moments over coffee or leisurely lunches. Her sweet tooth was legendary, with candy, cookies, pies, and cakes always close at hand.

She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her daughters Cynthia (Daryl) Scanland and Nancy (Johnny) Campbell; her grandchildren George (Wendy) Rohloff, Christopher (Krissy) Rohloff, Shawn Michelle Scott, and Ashlyn (Bradley) Lung; her great-grandchildren Rhiannon, Alex, Lukas, Kyle, Melody, and Chloe; and her great-great-grandchildren Aubree and Riley. Ginny's family also includes numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Though Ginny has departed from this world, her spirit will continue to dance in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her laughter, warmth, and enduring love for her family are memories that will be cherished forever.

Condolences
