William Cleveland Dye, affectionately known as Bill, passed away on April 4, 2025, in Royal Oak, Michigan, at the age of 83. Born on June 18, 1941, in Pikeville, Kentucky, Bill lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Bill dedicated many years of his career to the Ford Automotive Company, where he worked in salvage repair until his retirement. Known for his skillful hands and resourceful nature, Bill was a true "Jack of all trades." His passion for hunting and fishing brought him joy and tranquility, while his sociable spirit endeared him to many. Bill's greatest happiness came from spending time with his family, whom he loved dearly.
A proud member of the Masons and the UAW Local 387, Bill valued community and camaraderie. His warm personality and generous heart touched the lives of all who knew him.
Bill was preceded in death by his siblings: Fannie, Cathy, Retha, Betty, James, Kenny, Allen, George, and Melvin. He is survived by his beloved significant other, Monica Nelson; his son, Wayne Dye; his grandchildren, Robert Gibson and Danielle Dye; and his three great-grandchildren, Riley, Jameson, and Lacey. He is also survived by his brothers Edward (Gaye) Dye and Emerson (Beth) Dye, as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a service at 3:00 PM. Entombment will take place at Michigan Memorial Park.
Bill will be remembered for his kindness, his love for the outdoors, and his unwavering devotion to those he held dear. He will be deeply missed but forever cherished in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
