Obituary

Delora Janice Ellis, cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on December 4, 2024, in Dearborn, Michigan, at the age of 81. Born on April 21, 1943, in Barbourville, Kentucky, Delora was a woman deeply rooted in family and nature, with a passion for gardening and tending her beloved flowers.

Delora's legacy continues through her surviving son, Mark Ellis, and his wife Toni, who brought her immense joy. Her memory is also cherished by her grandchildren: John David (Sara), Krissy (Dan), Mark Jr. (Anna), Kelsey (Donovan), William, Austin (Megan), Aiden (Alex), Alec, Mya, and Darius. She was further blessed with three great-grandchildren: Landyn, McKinley, and Nathan, who brought smiles and laughter to her final years.

Delora also leaves behind a large extended family filled with loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved son, David Duane Ellis, whose memory she held dear throughout her life, her devoted husband, Johnny Ellis, who was her steadfast partner through many years of love and companionship, and eight loving brothers and sisters.

Delora will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her nurturing hand in her garden, and her unwavering love for her family. Her warmth and kindness touched all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.

  • I am one of Robert’s Twins. I met Aunt Delora several years ago. Aunt Pat and Uncle Denver we met at her home she was at work but she let us meet at her home. Then she came home from work and I was able to visit with the ones that I had wanted to meet all of my life. There was always an emptiness in my heart. It was full that day. She was. Beautiful woman and sweet to me. I love you all. Karen Reeder Allen
