Florence Emma Erving
September 13, 1927 – January 20, 2024

Florence Emma Erving, age 96, of Rockwood, died peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on January 20, 2024. A loving mother to Sam (Denise), Sue (Phil), and Karen (Peter). Dearest Grandmother of Kenny, Kimmie, Jennifer (Brett), Rick and Rachel (Chayse); Great Grandmother to Kayla (Chance), Sammy, Cameron and Ralph. She is also survived by her brothers Frank and Bill, along with her sisters Shirley, Emily and Darlene. She is preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her daughter Sandra, parents Frank & Pearl Snyder, and sisters Alice, Betty and Doris.

Florence was born into a large family, the oldest of nine children, which called upon her to be a nurturing influence from an early age. That same desire to help others was present throughout her entire life and lead her to a long and fulfilling career in the medical field. She was well known for her extensive community service contributions, ranging from involvement with The VFW Auxiliary, Rockwood Historical Society, Red Hats Club of Rockwood, and was recognized as a ‘Deaconess for Life’ by the Rockwood First Congregational Church (only to name a few). However her greatest love and effort was always centered around her family, of which they will so fondly remember her for her quick wit, limitless compassion, unwavering patriotism, and the gift of memories she gave to so many by always creating a happy gathering place, which is when she was at her best… hosting close friends and family.

Those wishing to celebrate her life are welcome to gather with her family at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, January 24th. Visitation will run from 11:00am-2:00pm, with the service following thereafter from 2:00pm-3:00pm.
