Jean Louise Ellis, 79, was called Home on May 14, 2021.. She was born on June 9, 1941 in Dundee, Michigan as one of two children to Jay and Betty Fairbanks. Jean attended Dundee Community Schools, graduating as Salutatorian of her class in 1959. Jean married Ronald D. Ellis at the United Methodist Church in 1968. They were blessed with 3 children, Jacqueline (Michael) Lusch, Kristin Ellis and Jay Ellis. Jean worked for 30 years as a secretary for the University of Michigan, finishing her career at the College of Art and Architecture. She was proud of her service and loved the Maize and Blue! She was a lover of music, especially the piano. She played the organ at many local churches and would still sit down and play until the last year of her life. One of Jean’s proudest moments was when she was called on stage to play the tambourine for Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen as they played their super hit “Hot Rod Lincoln”. Jean also loved to dance, especially with her son in law, Michael. She enjoyed traveling to Washington DC to visit her daughter, Kristin. She looked forward to attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and never passed up an opportunity to attend a live theater production. In addition to her parents, Jean is preceded in death by her husband Ron and her sister Kay Miller. To honor her memory, Jean is survived by her children, her five grandchildren, Mitchell and Maya DuVall, Lucas and Ethan Ellis and Keyan Lusch. And a great granddaughter, Olive Avery-Lusch. She also leaves behind her dear friend and caregiver, Dianna Bayer. The family wishes to thank the staff at Medilodge Monroe and Beaumont Taylor Hospital for their kind and compassionate care during her stays with them.
