Obituary

William Duncan Eastman, born on March 21, 1932, passed away on February 9, 2026, at the age of 93. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

William's life was filled with simple joys and passions that brought him happiness and fulfillment. He had a lifelong love for roller-skating, often spending weekends gliding gracefully across the rink. Golfing was another pastime he enjoyed, relishing the tranquility and challenge of the game. Camping trips were a favorite family tradition, where he found peace in nature and created lasting memories with loved ones. His affection for animals was evident to all who knew him, and he shared a special bond with his beloved Boxer, Beegee, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Suzanne Eastman, who stood by his side through life's journey. William leaves behind a loving family, including his children: William Paul Eastman, Christine J. (Jeff) Huffman, and Cherie Eastman. He was a proud grandfather to Kyle Huffman, Brandon Huffman, Jonah Huffman, Brayden Winters, Michelle Eastman, and Skye Eastman, each of whom brought immense joy to his life. He is also survived by his niece, Beverly Bredow, along with many dear friends who enriched his days.

William's legacy is one of love, laughter, and cherished memories. His gentle spirit and kind heart touched the lives of those around him, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michigan Humane Society in honor of William Duncan Eastman.

Condolences

  • Bill was part of that special generation of our family — the ones who set the tone for what gatherings were supposed to feel like: easy laughter, good stories, and time well spent together. Some of my favorite memories of him are from family reunions, seeing his familiar smile across the yard and hearing his unmistakable laugh carry through the conversation. He always seemed right at home at the card table, playing with the uncles, a cold beer nearby, enjoying the simple joy of being surrounded by family. Those moments may have seemed ordinary at the time, but they’re the ones that stay with us. That’s how I’ll always remember Bill — smiling, laughing, and making family time feel warm and complete. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. Erica Bonkosky-Montefusco
