Obituary
Charles Floyd Festerman, affectionately known as Corky, Cork, and Chuck, born on September 14, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, passed away on November 20, 2025, in Kingsley, Michigan, at the age of 82. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, great-uncle, brother, cousin, coworker and friend, Charles lived a life full of love, dedication, and adventure.
Charles was a skilled machine repairman in the automotive industry, where he worked tirelessly to support his family. He was a valued member of the United Auto Workers (UAW) and took great pride in his work. He was also known to fix anything and everything.
His career also allowed him to travel, where he enjoyed teaching and sharing wonderful adventures with his coworkers and their wives. These trips, along with subsequent cruises with his beloved wife Sharon, were filled with joy and excitement, especially when he indulged in his love for gambling. In later years, he believed his niece Nikki was his good luck charm at the slots.
A proud veteran, Charles served in the United States Air Force and held deep respect for his son Jimmy's and nephew's military service. He cherished the time spent with his son in the Boy Scouts.
Charles and Sharon shared a passion for bowling and were active participants in local leagues. They also enjoyed evenings with their card club, surrounded by long-time friends. In his younger years, Charles was known as the life of the party, always bringing his vinyl records to provide music and create lasting memories.
He had a lifelong interest in model airplanes, which he shared with dear friends, and his dedication to his family was unwavering. Charles was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Festerman, and his parents, Howard and Virginia Festerman.
He is survived by his loving son, James (Buffie) Festerman. Charles describes James birth as the happiest moment of his life. He also leaves behind his cherished grandsons Samuel (Juliana) and Ryan; sister Judy Cartwright; nephew Jon and nieces Tricia and Nikki; grand-niece Emma, and grand-nephews Sean and Kyle. Charles's legacy of love, laughter, and resilience will be cherished by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held at Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Monday, November 24, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, followed by a service at 1:00 PM. Charles will be remembered for his kindness, his ability to bring people together, and his unwavering commitment to those he loved.
