Howard Edward Fite passed away peacefully on July 22, 2020 at his home in Southgate, MI. Howard was born June 28, 1935 in Wyandotte, MI to Herbert J. Fite and Almyria Handley. He grew up in Wyandotte and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1953. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in July 1956 and served for 2 years. During that time he was stationed in Okinawa from 1956-1957. Howard was an avid snow skier and that led to chance meeting with his future wife, Patricia [Pat] Butler, of Lincoln Park, in a Wyandotte ski shop, where Howard worked. Howard initially worked in steelmaking and later in sales, primarily wholesale foods. Howard & Pat were married on October 29, 1965 in Lincoln Park, MI. They are the parents of two sons, Jeffery Edward and Jason Howard. Howard is survived by his wife of 55 years, Pat, sons Jeffery [Nancy] and Jason [Darlene], granddaughter Piper, grandsons Kraig Hohf II and Nate Hohf and his sister Rosalie. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Ruth Ann Noble. Howard was an avid history and family heritage student. He uncovered many ancestral family associations which led him to become a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, War of 1812, Sons of Confederate Veterans, Marine Corps League, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War [SUVCW], where he was a 15 year member and had served as a camp officer. His cremation took place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.

  • Dear Pat and family, We are saddened to hear of Howard's death. We enjoyed many good times together, especially at Tony Schuster's bible study. • Dearest Pat and family, We were saddened and rejoiced in Howard’s home going in the hands of our precious Savior, Jesus Christ! Whenever, I saw Howard I would ask him, how he was feeling? He always replied back to me with his hands and we both would laugh out loudly. I know he is feeling better than ever in the presence of Jesus. I will definitely miss you at the WBC Men’s Retirement Breakfasts on the last Wednesday of each month. I am looking forward to the coming day when we will see one another again in glory! Grace and Peace, Mark and Karen Best Mark and Karen Best
