Obituary

John Patrick Felts

January 18, 1960 – July 26, 2023

John “Patrick” Felts passed away on July 26, 2023, at the age of 63, after recently being diagnosed with cancer.

Patrick was the beloved husband of Theresa Ann Felts, loving father of Jennifer Felts and Christopher Felts, and dearest son of Patricia Felts and the late Roland “Bud” Felts. He is also survived by his siblings Kathy (Jimmy) Belluso, Kevin (Krissy) Felts, David Felts, and many nieces and nephews.

Patrick met the love of his life, Theresa, while he was proudly serving in the United States Coast Guard and stationed on Harsens Island. The two met while they were in the bridal party for a friend’s wedding. Theresa and Pat were engaged within a year and a half and recently celebrated their 40th anniversary.

After years of service, Patrick graduated from the Fire Academy and went on to be a firefighter and paramedic for 20 years, first as a volunteer firefighter in Algonac, and eventually full time firefighter in Trenton, where the family has called home since 1986.

Patrick was a GIA certified Gemologist and in recent years, was working alongside his brother at Plymouth Jewelry in the Old Village of Plymouth.

Patrick was happiest when on the water. He loved cruising the Detroit River in his new boat, and boating and fishing in Put-in-Bay, Lake Erie and Lake Saint Clair.

Everything Patrick did he did with passion — whether it was a friendly game of Pictionary, boating, or loving and caring for his family. He avidly enjoyed all kinds of live music; from blues bands in dive bars to annual Jimmy Buffet and Crosby, Stills, and Nash pilgrimages (sometimes, he even made it inside). He and Theresa went to many concerts over the years beginning when they were dating.

He would share the kind of stories that made you wish you had been there.

His memory will live on through those stories and the people he loved.

His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
