FERNANDES, Ronald M., age 72, of Taylor, passed away on December 5, 2023. Loving father of Kendall (Alister) McCracken and Courtney Fernandes. He is survived by his brother Chris (Terri) Fernandes, nephew Brad (Katie) Fern, and niece Sarah Johnson. He is preceded in death by his parents Dudley Fernandes and Elizabeth Szekely and his brother Pete Fernandes. Ronald was a proud honoree of EMU Athlete Hall of Fame for his excellent play in Football that earned him an NFL draft pick in 1973. He loved to share his passion for fishing and the outdoors with his daughters and friends. His cremation will take place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.

Condolences

  • My deepest condolences to Kendall and Courtney and family… Ron was a very good old friend of my husband Rudy….. he was a devoted father to his girls and a good family man. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Please take some comfort in knowing that Rudy was also there to welcome Ron home💜✝️ Tara Boyd-Martinez
  • I loved Ron. He was one hell of a player May he rest in the peace of the Lord God Almighty Luigi Gino Micheli
  • A fine teammate. He gave it all in every instance. George Kunz
  • Ron was a Phi Sigma Epsilon fraternity brother of mine at EMU. He was a great brother in those years of active life. Paul Woolner
  • My deepest sympathy to Ron’s daughters and family. I have so many memories with Ron. I’ve thought of him so often through the years and talked of him too. I remember the time he was brushing his teeth at my parent’s house and he was leaning on the sink when the whole sink came away from the wall! I hope Duke and Chaney were there to meet you, as well as Peter and your mom and dad. RIP Ronald. Geralyn Williams
