Obituary

Carmelo Galea, born on November 3, 1945, in Gzira, Malta, passed away on February 24, 2026, in Riverview, Michigan, at the age of 80.

Carmelo was a man of simple pleasures, who found joy in the game of golf and was passionate about exercising and working out. He dedicated over 30 years to his barber shop, Hair 1, which he co-owned with his dear partner, Jim Noe. It was a place where he not only honed his craft but also formed lasting friendships and shared countless stories.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Joseph and Clara Galea, and his cherished wife, Siriporn Galea. His legacy of love and resilience continues through his children, Sarah (Tyler Kveen) Galea, and Joseph (Mackenzie) Galea. Carmelo was a proud grandfather to Everly Jade Galea and Nora June Kveen, who brought immense joy to his life.

Carmelo is also survived by his siblings, John (Sharon) Galea, Doris Galea-
Hamood, Rita (Michael) Brylinsky, and Theresa (Claudio) Salinas. He leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews who will fondly remember him.

Carmelo's warmth, selflessness and kindness touched everyone he met. His memory will forever be treasured by his family, friends and past customers.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in support for his time in the Army, as well as the VA for their support.

Condolences
