Florence Anna Greer, affectionately known as Grandma Flo, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2024, at the age of 86 in Newport, Michigan. Born on March 7, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, Florence lived a life filled with love, laughter, and vibrant passions.
A woman of many talents, Florence had a passion for square dancing that filled her life with joy and rhythm. She was a talented seamstress who found great fulfillment in sewing and quilting, creating beautiful pieces that will be cherished by her loved ones. Her love for animals was evident in the tender care she gave to her beloved dogs, Pierre the Toy Poodle and Gracie the English Springer Spaniel, who have now joined her in peace.
Florence's culinary skills were renowned, especially her famous meatloaf, which she lovingly prepared for family gatherings. Her sunny disposition mirrored her love for sunshine and warmth, a love that led her to spend many happy years in Clearwater, Florida. Her sense of humor was boundless, bringing smiles and laughter to all who met her.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, William Greer, her cherished daughter Michelle Cotter, her loving parents, and her dear fur babies, Pierre and Gracie.
Florence's memory lives on through her surviving family: her adoring granddaughter Melanie Hartz and her husband Matthew and grandson Mark Cotter, her precious great-granddaughter Mackenzie Carroll, and her caring brother Samuel and his wife Mary Kay.
Though she is no longer with us, Florence's spirit will continue to dance in the hearts of those who loved her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and light will remain a guiding force for her family and friends.
Her cremation took place at “The Witness Crematory” located inside of Michigan Memorial Funeral Home.
