Obituary
John "JC" Charles Gentner, born on November 5, 1992, in Wyandotte, Michigan, passed away on February 19, 2026, in Newport, Michigan, at the age of 33.
JC was a devoted husband, father, son, and brother whose love for his family was unparalleled. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jade Gentner, and their three cherished children: John, Rosalie, and Henry. His mother, Mary Gentner, and sisters, Jody (John) Petroff, Janis (Roger) Hollenbeck, and Lindsey O'Hehir, also mourn his passing. JC was a proud uncle to Bryce Petroff, Dylan Hollenbeck, and Ashley Hollenbeck. He will be dearly missed by his cats, Bubbles and Pearl, as well as many extended family members and friends.
JC was preceded in death by his father, John M. Gentner; paternal grandparents, Marvin and Geraldine Gentner; maternal grandparents, Charles and Beverly Harbaum; and brother-in-law, Sean O'Hehir.
A skilled mechanic, JC worked at the Meijer Distribution Center and was a respected member of the Meijer Warehouse UFCW Local 951. Known for his stoic demeanor, JC found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an exceptional cook and took great pride in preparing meals for his loved ones. JC appreciated the tranquility and mental clarity offered by the Japanese Tea Ceremony, and he was both a coffee connoisseur and a cigar aficionado.
Visitation will be held at the Michigan Memorial Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A service to honor JC's life will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM. An inurnment at Michigan Memorial Park will occur at a later date.
