Obituary

Patricia Ann Grech, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2025, in Grosse Ile, at the age of 84. Born on January 16, 1941, in Wyandotte. Patricia was a lifelong resident of Grosse Ile. Patricia graduated Grosse Ile high school in 1958 with honors and then pursued a career as a registered nurse working at Henry Ford Hospital in the critical care department until retirement. She lived a life full of love, dedication, and passion.

Patricia found great joy and fulfillment in her role as the treasurer for the Hawthorn Meadows Condominium Association, where she served diligently for 20 years. Her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to her community were admired by all who knew her.

A woman of varied interests, Patricia was an avid boater, often found navigating the waters with a spirit of adventure and joy. She also had an impeccable eye for fashion, especially when it came to shopping for designer clothes, always leaving a touch of elegance wherever she went. A proud member of the Island Gardening Club, Patricia nurtured her love for nature by cultivating beautiful gardens that reflected her vibrant personality.

Preceded in death by her cherished husband, James F. Grech, and her brother, John Lewis, Patricia's legacy continues through her loving family. She is survived by her devoted children, Deborah Allen, Shelly Peabody, Cynthia Hornby, Carlene Cathcart, and Jimmy Grech. Her memory will also be treasured by her grandchildren, Trevor Jean, Hunter Peabody, Trystan Hornby, Abigail Cathcart, Betheny Cathcart, and Delaney Cathcart, as well as her great-grandchildren, Xyla Jean and Elias Lopez. Patricia is also survived by her dear sister, Geneva Futrell, who shared a lifelong bond with her.

Patricia's kindness, warmth, and unwavering love for her family and friends have left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have known her. She will be deeply missed and eternally remembered.

  • I am sorry about Pat’s passing! The last couple of years have been very difficult for her and her family. Pat and I became friends when my wife and I moved into Hawthorn Meadows, and I joined the board. She was a strong person, and needless to say we butted heads a few times. We did work well together and had good times together. I am sorry I can’t there today for her memorial! Rest in Peace Pat🙏 Richard Maurer
